The Therapeutic Eurythmy Training in North America (TETNA)

The Therapeutic Eurythmy Training in North America (TETNA) is a three-year part-time course for graduate students holding a recognized/diploma in Artistic Eurythmy. This training is certified and accredited by the Medical Section of the School of Spiritual Science at the Goetheanum in Dornach, Switzerland.

  • The initial modules engage the students in the fundamental elements of eurythmy therapy, both speech and tone, accompanied by intensive studies in human development and anthroposophic medicine. These are taught by the training directors and resident physician. We engage in collaborative learning and foster diversity in understanding and insight, with mutual support in development.
  • The curriculum is closely aligned with the Therapeutic Eurythmy Course given by Rudolf Steiner in 1921/ 1922. Through the course the students receive a thorough foundation in professional skills through development of observation, reflection, imagination and therapeutic intuitive insight.
  • There are 6 modules, consisting of three 5 week summer sessions and 3 winter sessions of 2 weeks in February. The last of the summer modules is taught by wide range of guest specialty trainers, and the course concludes in the graduate presentation of the final thesis in the last February block.
  • Between the blocks of instruction, the students undertake mentored  practice placements in accordance with professional standards of the International Kollegium of Anthroposophic Medicine (IKAM) and the Association of Therapeutic Eurythmists of North America (ATHENA).
  • Practicing therapeutic eurythmists are welcome to join the weekly modules of the specialist 3rd year summer sessions to deepen and extend their experience, and physicians, social therapists, and other professionals in healing practice are welcome to audit the training.

Venue and Accommodation: The training is hosted by Camphill Village, Copake NY and provides material, education and spiritual support for the training of Therapeutic Eurythmists. Camphill life is in itself a social therapeutic schooling and the students receive credit hours for their learning experience and practice while in Copake. This includes living in the houses with people with special needs, community Eurythmy classes and working in the extensive gardens. It is this that makes TETNA unique in its training experience.

Qualification: Students must participate in all classes, and complete all assignments for their graduation transcript. Further, students must participate in the two periods of practical clinical/therapeutic practice. Upon graduation, students receive a Diploma in Eurythmy Therapy internationally recognized and endorsed by the Medical Section in Dornach, Switzerland.

Dates and Fees: The Current training group will graduate in February 2022 and a new course will begin in July 2022. Fees: $18,500/ payment schedule is spread over the 3 years, payable at the start of each summer block.  Tuition covers full board and lodging for the duration of each of module/course.
